2014 Summer Education Academy information

as we worked out a few bugs.

What is Summer Education Academy?

Tempe Union High School District’s Summer Education Academy (formerly Summer School), aimed at helping students in the District recover and/or gain credits toward graduation while engaging students during the summer months and preparing them for academic excellence during the traditional school year.

The Summer Education Academy is open to any incoming ninth grade (freshman) through twelfth grade (senior) student. Students may take one class per Summer Education Academy session and earn 1/2 credit for the class. In general, courses offered during the 1st session are equivalent to the first semester of the school year, and courses offered the 2nd session are equivalent to the second semester of the regular school year.

Session I

Wednesday, May 28th – Friday, June 13th
Registration: Begins Wednesday, March 19th

 

Session II

Monday, June 16th – Wednesday, July 2nd
Registration: Begins Wednesday, March 19th

Classes are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.

Note: Class on June 13th and July 2nd are from 7:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

Summer Education Academy's campus-based sessions for 2014 will be located at McClintock High School located 1830 E. Del Rio Drive in Tempe, AZ.

Tuition

Tuition for summer school is $175.00 per session per ½ credit. Those students who do not attend a TUHSD school will be charged an additional $25.00 administrative fee.

Students may take one class per session and earn ½ credit for the class.

Bus passes may be purchased at the time of registration for $25.00 per session. Bus service is available to and from the student’s home school to the Summer Education Academy campus.

Incoming Freshmen are only available to sign up for –
Algebra 1-2, Art & Design, Chem-Physics Foundations, Computer Applications,
Freshman English, Geometry, Physical Education 1-2, Spanish 1-2 and Spanish 3-4.

A student may only be absent TWO days per session. There are NO excused absences in Summer Education Academy.

Final exams will NOT be administered early by any teacher.

Graduation will be held Wednesday, July 2nd.
