2015 Summer Education Academy information
What is Summer Education Academy?
Tempe Union High School District’s Summer Education Academy, aimed at helping students in the District recover and/or gain credits toward graduation while engaging students during the summer months and preparing them for academic excellence during the traditional school year.
The Summer Education Academy is open to any incoming ninth grade (freshman) through twelfth grade (senior) student. Students may take one class per Summer Education Academy session and earn 1/2 credit for the class. In general, courses offered during the 1st session are equivalent to the first semester of the school year, and courses offered the 2nd session are equivalent to the second semester of the regular school year.
Campus-Based Courses and MDLP
1st Session Registration: Monday, March 2nd through May 15th.
2nd Session Registration: Monday, March 2nd through June 12th.
Registration forms are available in the Guidance Department at all schools no later than 2-19-2015. All Registration forms must be completed and signed by parent/guardian and counselor. Classes are filled on first-come, first-served basis and determined by the order registration forms are submitted.
- Step 1: Complete Registration Form (If taking MDLP classes, a TUHSD-Online Education (MDLP) Guidelines/Statement of Awareness form must also be completed and signed).
- Step 2: Obtain guidance counselor signature.
- Step 3: Make payment at the bookstore.
Classes are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.
Wednesday, May 27th – Friday, June 12th
Monday, June 15th – Wednesday, July 1st
Note: Class on June 12th and July 1st are from 7:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Summer Education Academy Closure Dates are July 6th through July 17th.
Summer Education Academy's campus-based sessions for 2015 will be located at Mountain Pointe High School located 4201 E. Knox Road, Phoenix, AZ 85044.

Tuition: $175 per session (½ credit class)
Reduced Lunch Tuition: $120.00 per session
Free Lunch Tuition: $60.00 per session
All tuition must be paid at time of registration. Payments can be made by check (payable to TUHSD SEA), money order, credit card or debit card. There is a $25 fee for any students not currently enrolled in a Tempe Union High School. Financial assistance is available for students who qualify. Please see your home school administrator for information on assistance offered through various programs.
Incoming Freshmen are only available to sign up for –
Algebra 1-2, Art & Design, Chem-Physics Foundations, Computer Applications,
Freshman English, Geometry, Physical Education 1-2, Spanish 1-2 and Spanish 3-4.
A student may only be absent TWO days per session. There are NO excused absences in Summer Education Academy.
Final exams will NOT be administered early by any teacher.
Graduation will be held Wednesday, July 1st.
