Library Media Center Policies

HOURS


Monday - Friday: 7:15 AM to 3:30 PM.


We will be closed during faculty/staff meetings, student assemblies, AIMS and Terra Nova testing, immediately after school on teacher In-service days, and for district meetings.  Due to the fact that there will be some “special” days, please check the Main Library doors for the closing times.

 

CHECKING OUT MATERIALS

  • Students must have a current Mountain Point ID card to checkout materials.
  • Books may be checked out for a two (2) week period.
  • Students are limited to five (5) checked-out items.
  • We do not charge fines for overdue materials, however students may not check out additional materials until overdue items are returned.
  • Students MUST pay for damaged or lost items.



LIBRARY COMPUTERS

Technology Use Agreement Form:

The Tempe Union High School District requires that all students and a parent/guardian sign a district technology use Agreement  Form before using school computers. The technology use Agreement  Form can be found in the T.U.H.S.D. Student Policies and Regulations handbook. Students who violate the technology use policy will lose computer privileges.

The purpose of school computers and equipment is for educational use only. Student use of computers and equipment is a privilege, not a right. Any other use of school computers will result in loss of computer use privileges for an entire school year. A second offense will result in loss of computer use privileges for the remainder of a student’s high school years.

 

SOFTWARE AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS

  • Students will have access to Office 2007 products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) on all student computers.
  • It is highly recommended that students carry a flash drive for transferring data to and from home computers to school computers.
  • Students may access their personal e-mail accounts from school, strictly to retrieve data. (Note: Not all internet email accounts can be accessed, due to strict security regulations from the District.)

 

TECHNOLOGY POLICIES

  • Downloading and/or playing video games are NOT ALLOWED on any school computer.
  • Random checks are conducted and students not following policy will be written up.
  • Personal laptops are NOT ALLOWED on campus.ALL school policies will be followed in the library.


EXPECTED BEHAVIOR in the LIBRARY and in the LABS

  • Leave food, candy, snacks and/or drinks OUTSIDE.
  • Students are NOT ALLOWED in Labs without Adult Supervision.
  • Use the library to study, read, or do research for class assignments.
  • Work in a manner that allows others to concentrate. Please do not engage in any behavior that interferes with the normal use and operation of the Library or disrupts the concentration of other patrons.
  • Follow school policies, and be courteous to staff and other students.
  • You may not use any electronic equipment (cellphones, Ipods, MP3 players, etc.)in the library at any time.


**The Library’s rules of behavior are designed to protect the rights and safety of Mountain Pointe’s students, faculty, and staff as they relate to the proper use of the library. Library rules of behavior are enforced in accordance with the Mountain Pointe Student Code of Conduct as specified in the student handbook.


**The interpretation and enforcement of these rules rests with the library staff. Violations of library rules, including disruptive behavior, may result in loss of library privileges or expulsion from the library.


**Users engaging in vandalizing, altering or damaging library buildings, furniture or equipment, including computer systems, networks, programs or data, destroying, damaging, or defacing library materials are in violation of Arizona State Law and will be subject to the school’s disciplinary policy and/or local law enforcement if warranted (Arizona State Revised Statutes, Chapter 8, Article 3, Title 15, Section 842)

Retiro de Materiales:

  • Se require de una tarjeta de identificación para sacar todo material
  • Se puede sacar los libros por un período de dos (2) semanas, y se los puede renovar dos veces
  • Los estudiantes tienen un límite de sacar 5 (cinco) cosas a la vez
  • No se cobra ninguna multa, pero no se podrá sacar materiales adicionales hasta que los materiales atrasados se devuelvan
  • Los estudiantes TIENEN LA OBLIGACION de pagar por todos los materiales perdidos o dañados

Computadoras de la Biblioteca:


uso principal de las computadoras de la biblioteca es para la investigación académica y/o para las actividades relacionadas con las clases. El personal de la bibioteca se reserva el derecho de pedir a los usuarios que terminen su uso de las computadoras cuando sea del caso, especialmente si el estudiante ha cometido infracciones en contra del Acuerdo de Tecnología de TUHSD.

Comportamiento Apropriado en la Biblioteca de MPHS:


Las reglas de comportamiento de la Biblioteca de Mountain Pointe han sido establecidas con el fin de proteger los derechos y la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, personal docente y demás empleados en cuanto al uso correcto de la Biblioteca. Las reglas de comportamiento se hacen cumplir de acuerdo con el Código de Conducta Estudiantil de Mountain Pointe, según las especificaciones de este folleto.

  • Se debe cumplir con todos los reglamentos generales del colegio, incluyendo:
    • La prohibición total y a toda hora del uso de teléfonos celulares
    • de cualquier otro aparato electrónico
    • Cumplimiento con el código de vestimenta del colegio
    • La prohibición de escribir o dibjujar cualquier cosa en las mesas y/o las computadoras de la biblioteca
  • NO SE PERMITE NINGUNA COMIDA NI BEBIDA en la biblioteca y las áreas de laboratorio
  • Los estudiantes no pueden estar sin supervisión en ningún laboratorio
  • La Biblioteca es para el propósito exclusivo de estudiar, leer o hacer investigaciones para trabajos de clase
  • Se debe trabajar de una manera que permita que los demás puedan concentrarse; en el caso de comportamiento problemático, el estudiante podrá perder su privilegio de usar la biblioteca o de ser expulsado
  • Se debe respetar no solamente al personal y a los otros estudiantes, sino también a los materiales y muebles de la biblioteca. UD. es responsible por el buen uso y por la devolución de todos los materiales usados
  • A los estudiantes que demuestren comportamiento inapropriado, se les pedirá que salgan de la biblioteca y que regresen a sus clases
