MdN LRTC Policies

  • Students agree to follow the District Technology policy when they sign their Student Planners.
  • Internet is for research only.
  • No games. No chat. No headphones for non-school related use.
  • 10 page printing limit for school related information; non-school related information: 10¢/page.
  • Students who violate the Technology Use Agreement will lose the privilege of accessing the internet.
General Information for LRTC
(Library, AV, and computer labs)

Circulation Policy

Hours:
  • Library: 7:15 am - 4:00 pm; closed for lunch
  • AV: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
    IDs are only done during lunch and after school daily, and during conference on Thursdays
  • Computer commons labs are open only to scheduled classes with teachers

Admittance:

  • Passes or Release cards are required during class time for admittance to the library or AV room
  • Students must have a pass specifying the library or AV and signed by the teacher
  • Each person must have her/his own individual pass
  • Students on release must have a permanent release pass issued by security personnel
  • Students must show their pass or release card to staff members upon request
  • No passes or release cards are required before or after school
  • Students needing an ID in the AV Room will need a copy of their schedule (new students) or a Bookstore receipt (replacements)

MdN Library Catalog: The library database is made available through DESTINY (a web based public access catalogue) from the Follett Corporation.

Library Card: The MdN Student ID card is required to check out materials. ID cards are obtained from the AV room either during lunch or after school.

Overdue Policy: Fines are not charged for overdue materials. However, students with overdue or lost materials will not be allowed to check out additional materials. A $2.00 service charge is assessed once an item is 30 days overdue. Students may donate 2 cans of food or a box of facial tissue in lieu of the service charge.

Other:

  • Food: No food or beverage of any kind is allowed in the library or computer commons
  • Cell phones, cameras, MP3 players and other electronic devices: The LRTC abides by the campus policies regarding cell phones, MP3 players, etc., - these items are not allowed during school time. In addition, due to the nature of the library, students are requested not to use cell phones at any time in the LRTC. Music players and headphones for non-school related activities are not allowed at any time.
  • Talking: Must be kept at a level quiet enought to be heard only by those people seated nearby.

General Collection (Fiction, Nonfiction, Paperbacks, Biography):

  • Two week checkout
  • Limit: 10 items per student

Reference Collection:

  • Check out after school
  • Overnight only, due by 8 am next day
  • Limit: 2 items per student

Current Perdiodicals (most recent issue of a magazine; kept in red, plastic covers):

  • Cannot be taken out of library

Back Issues of Periodicals:

  • Stored in the Magazine Stacks
  • Fill out yellow "Request Form" and take it to the Circulation Desk
  • Two week checkout
  • Limit: 3 magazines per student

Pamphlets:

  • Located in Career File
  • Take material to Circulation Desk, and fill out yellow "Request Form"
  • Two week checkout
  • Limit: 3 pamphlets per student

Newspapers:

  • Current issues are not circulated
  • Back issues are kept for one week, then discarded
  • Discarded newspapers are available for cut-up

Art Prints/Posters/Portrait Gallery:

  • Circulated to students only when needed for classroom use
  • Must have a note from the teacher

AV Materials (Video and audio recordings, laser disks, filmstrips, slides):

  • Circulated to students only when needed for classroom use
  • Must be checked out by teacher, who may then make materials available to students

AV Equipment:

  • Circulated to staff only
  • Circulation can be daily, weekly, or yearly (depending on items, usage and availability)
Security System: A security system is in operation. Material that has not been checked out will set off an alarm when taken out of the library
